Today is the 4th of July and it may just suck where we live due to the rain! Fireworks will most likely be canceled, and our town NEVER resechedules them!
So I thought, why not look up some crafts that some of us can do while we spend our rainy 4th of July inside! Or maybe your child is scared of the fireworks, here’s some awesome crafts to keep their minds off of the loud booms!
Of course, I turned to Pinterest for these!
B-InspiredMama has some great kid crafts! I’m sure every toddler/kid would love giving this to someone to hang on their fridge or even in their room!
Sassydealz is also another favorite of mine on Pinterest for craft ideas!! This “firework” painting is done with a few easy things, paint (red and blue), white printer paper or construction paper, and a few bendable straws taped together!
Another awesome firework painting from SassyDealz! This time all that’s needed, blue and red paint, white construction paper, and a metal or plastic fork!
Didn’t I say SassyDealz has some great toddler/kid crafts!! What child wouldn’t want to get their feet painted?! Another simple project that calls for red, white, blue, and black paint, white construction paper and maybe some paper towels! I know my nephew would LOVE to do this on a rainy day, even if it’s not the 4th of July!!
Something everyone, even adults enjoy doing…painting rocks! So why not make them patriotic?! Another simple project, collect some rocks from around the outside, grab some blue red and white paint, and let them dry! Even I would sit these around maybe in my inside flower pots or on the patio!
Everyone loves a tyedye T shirt! Using 12 zip ties or hair ties, a white T shirt, blue and red dye. Shirt most soak for at least 8-10 hours in warm water before doing so! Let dry over night and let the kiddies or even you, rock your new patriotic shirt tomorrow morning!
I don’t know about your household but we have sooo many tin cans from soups, and other diy projects, now just grab some blue paint, string, white paint or star stickers, and red and white ribbon! You will need an adult to hot glue the ribbon to the inside of the can, and to drill the holes on top (bottom of cans) to make room for the string to hang!
Another flag idea, I would say for the older children, this would be a great fun project!
An awesome DIY I found on Etsy and EBay, using old corks, red and blue paint, super glue, metal stars from hobby lobby and some metal wire, you can make this adorable wine cork American flag! Obviously this is an adult DIY but why not?! It’s awesome looking!
If you live somewhere nice, and it’s not raining, I think this is an amazing idea! Cutting a star shape into a cardboard, and spray painting the grass with red, white and blue spray paint! You can always get the temporary spray paint at lowes or Home Depot, so your grass isn’t forever stained!! Adults should help!
Katrina’s Kitchen has these adorable alcohol free kids red white and blue drinks! Perfect if your planning a 4th of July picnic with the family! Here’s the recipe she gives on her site:
And don’t worry, I didn’t forget about us adults! I found the same drink, just jazzed up a little bit!
Drink responsibly! It is a holiday!
And maybe enjoy some white chocolate with blue food coloring, dipped into pretzels, sprinkled with red white and blue sprinkles, while the chocolate is cooling down! Serve at your picnic!
I hope everyone is having a good 4th!! I’m currently working until 4pm, and then off to hopefully watch some fireworks with my lady!
